Backflow Testing FAQs
What is a backflow preventer?
It is a device on a water line that stops water from flowing backward into the public supply. Irrigation systems, fire lines and pool fill lines on commercial properties commonly have one.
How often does backflow need to be tested?
Commercial assemblies are generally tested annually, and your water provider sets the requirement. If you are unsure which applies to your property, call us and we will help you check.
Who needs backflow testing?
Commercial properties, HOAs, apartment communities and many other sites with irrigation, fire or process water connections. Your water provider can tell you which assemblies at your property must be tested.
What happens if my backflow assembly fails?
We tell you what failed and quote the repair. Many failures are fixed by replacing worn internal parts. We retest after the repair.
How long does a backflow test take?
A single assembly is usually quick. Properties with several assemblies take longer. We give you a time window when we schedule.
Do I need to be on site for the test?
Often not, as long as we have access to the assemblies. We confirm access details when you book.
Can you test backflow at the same time as pool service?
Yes. If we already service your property we can schedule testing alongside your pool visits.
